Terms of Service
Last updated August 27, 2026
These terms apply when you use HoodVue. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.
What HoodVue is
HoodVue lets homeowners share specific exterior cameras with the security guards who watch their neighborhood. It is a convenience for neighborhood watching. It is not a monitored alarm system, not an emergency service, and no substitute for calling the police. Nobody is guaranteed to be watching at any given moment.
Accounts
Accounts are created by invitation. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to your account. You are responsible for what happens under it.
What you may share
Share only cameras you own or are authorised to control, and only cameras showing areas a passer-by on the street could already see. Do not share cameras covering interior spaces, private areas, or anywhere a person would reasonably expect privacy.
Recording laws vary by state and locality, and some places require notice or consent for recording. Complying with the law where your cameras are is your responsibility.
What guards may do
A guard may view a shared camera only while on duty for a group you shared it with, and only within any hours you set. Every view is recorded in an audit log.
Guards must use what they see only to watch for suspicious or criminal activity affecting the neighborhood. Using HoodVue to harass, stalk, surveil a particular person, or to gather information for any unrelated purpose is prohibited, and is grounds for immediate removal.
Your control, and ours
You can stop sharing, change permitted hours, remove a camera, or leave a group at any time. We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms, that we believe is being misused, or where continuing would put other people's privacy at risk.
Camera providers
HoodVue works with cameras from third parties such as Ring and Google Nest. Their own terms and privacy policies continue to apply to your relationship with them, and we do not control whether their services are available or how they behave. You can revoke our access from their apps at any time.
Availability and disclaimer
HoodVue is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, that alerts will arrive, that a camera will be reachable, or that anyone will respond to anything. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for property damage, injury, or crime that the service did not prevent.
Changes
We may update these terms; the date above will change. Continuing to use HoodVue after an update means you accept it.
